Our
Manifesto
We are branding and supply chain execs who have worked for top companies including Deloitte, Minted, Comcast, Zume, Everytable, and Hive Brands.
We want to make the world more sustainable.
We were pissed off that it was so hard to do so.
So, we started Smashfiber.
Here's our manifesto - as told with stock photos.
We're mad about:
1.0 A sad, boring, dystopian future.
We're from the restaurant and food industry. We spent so much effort on our branding - everything from the dishware, to the staff uniforms, and music playing at the bar. Now, with a huge amount of sales coming from delivery - the only brand touchpoint is when the food is dropped off by a third-party delivery driver.
And it sucks when a restaurant (who spends so much time on the in-store experience) has a sole brand touchpoint that is commoditized, non-descript, and makes the food worse:
2.0 Unnecessary waste that kills our planet.
Every year, humans produce 150 million tons of plastic for single-use items. Only 9% gets recycled - the rest ends up in landfills, oceans, and playgrounds for millions of years. And don't get us started on styrofoam or other things that can't even be recycled. There are plenty of sustainability alternatives out there - this is totally avoidable at this point.
3.0 Confusing landscape with terrible service.
Seeking out sustainable packaging alternatives is surprisingly difficult. It's tough to figure out if a manufacturer is legit and they all make nearly identical claims. How do you know which is best?
Sourcing packaging can take forever with so much nuance lost in translation and differing senses of urgency. Is there someone out there that can just figure this out?
We were sick of it. So, we started Smashfiber.
Here's our promise:
1.1 Brand and quality are paramount.
We've built brands, we get brands, and we can help you use packaging as a key branding tool. As a custom shop, we constantly challenge ourselves if the designs will surprise and delight customers. We will never sacrifice customer experience with poor quality.
2.1 100% priority on sustainability.
We became experts in molded fiber because we believe its the best type of packaging for most needs. It's usually compostable, recyclable, and made from recycled plant fibers.
In the case where molded fiber won't work, we will focus on the next-best sustainable alternatives.
Additionally, we want you to have end-to-end visibility in the sustainability of your supply chain. It's challenging and expensive to understand carbon impact on packaging and logistics. We'll help with the analyses and effects.
3.1 Provide the easiest, simplest, best experience.
No one loves dealing with supply chain and logistics. Our team is comprised of supply chain experts who have handled packaging requirements for the most-demanding companies. We promise to make this as simple and fast as possible. This includes:
