But, we're world-class experts in molded fiber.
What is molded fiber?
Like how it sounds, molded fiber is a materials technique that uses discarded, plant-based fibers:
- Milled down
- Mixed in a natural, bio-based slurry
- Molded under intense heat and pressure
- Used as packaging or anything else
Why molded fiber?
We like molded fiber for a few reasons.
First and foremost, it's backyard compostable (in presence of microbes). Works well in landfills too.
Second, it's rigid, high-quality, and holds up well in many use-cases - including food handling.
Third, it's cost-effective - like plastic.
Fourth, we try our best to only source discarded crop waste - creating a more sustainable system.
What types of fibers?
Primarily we use discarded sugarcane (also known as bagasse). It's abundant and easily found in most parts of the world.
We are in active research and development to finalize formulations for a variety of other types of plant fibers including switchgrass, wheat, and corn stalks.
Why customize?
70% of eating occasions are off-premise.
Packaging is literally the only brandable moment for customers who ordered food from an app.
Customized packaging is your best (and sometimes only) opportunity to create a meaningful impression with an otherwise distracted customer.
It's not much more expensive, and we make it easy.
Is customized molded fiber hard to get?
Kind of. There are only a handful of manufacturers able to produce high-quality packaging at scale. Also, the customized process can be daunting.
We work closely with all the best manufacturers in US, India, China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, and anywhere else in the world. We know them all. We'll show you.
